Why Lowell?

John Haley, one of Watermark’s two founding members, was born and raised in Lowell. When he and Joseph Spangenberger decided to start Watermark, they had to look no further than the city of Lowell for quality and affordable real estate, as well as rich amenities for clients, partners and employees.

They opened their office in the Boott Mills along the Merrimack River. The Boott Cotton Mills were once the center of operations for the world’s cotton textile industry in mid 19th century, but the buildings found new life as epicenter for emerging industries companies such as Watermark.

“Watermark was founded in Lowell and continues to grow in Lowell. There are just too many reasons to stay,” says John Haley. “An easy example - our employees are integral to our business success and team-building is an important corporate value. This is effortless when you have the Lowell Spinners and the Lowell Devils in your backyard. Also, our weekly Wheel-A-Lunch, a Watermark spin on the Wheel of Fortune, have us frequenting and sampling a wide array of restaurants.” Watermark has since outgrown its space in the Boott Mills and has relocated down the road to Wannalancit Mills, where it continues to prosper.
