FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEContact: Chris Samaras City Manager to Host Downtown Event is sponsored by City of Lowell Division of Planning and Development, The Lowell Plan and the Greater Lowell Chamber of Commerce (Lowell, MA) – The City of Lowell is pleased to announce the first of three Downtown Summit Meetings. The first will be held on Wednesday, January 24th from 7:30 AM – 12:00 PM at the Double Tree Hotel. “The goal of the Downtown Summit is to generate enthusiasm, stimulate involvement and provide an opportunity to hear suggestions and ask questions on a wide variety of issues that concern those who live, work and play in downtown Lowell,” says Lowell City Manager, Bernie Lynch, who spearheaded the initiative. The morning program will include presentations from professionals on such topics as urban centers, cultural development, and downtown partnerships with UMASS Lowell and Middlesex Community College. Teresa Lynch, Senior Program Associate of the National Main Street Center of the National Trust for Historic Preservation will be the keynote speaker. Ms. Lynch provides technical assistance to small and mid-sized communities, urban neighborhood commercial districts, and special National Main Street Center projects. The second Downtown Summit, planned for late March and will include panel discussions on the most critical issues affecting the Downtown. The third Downtown Summit, planned for late May, will be a presentation of the City’s short and long-term goals for the Downtown.
