FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEContact: Diane LeMay, City of Lowell Hosts Annual City of Lights Parade and Celebration Saturday, November 25th LOWELL, Mass. – On Saturday, November 25th the City of Lowell will host its annual City of Lights Parade and Celebration. The parade will begin at 4:30 at the corner of Jackson & Central Streets, followed by a 6:00 lighting ceremony at City Hall. Santa Claus and Mayor William Martin will be on hand to light City Hall, adding to more than 100,000 lights, which will illuminate the downtown area. Refreshments will be available and photo opportunities with Santa will take place inside City Hall. The City of Lights Parade will feature more than seventy regional groups including The Manchester Muchachos Drum & Bugle Corp, costumed characters, bands, clowns and an assortment of illuminated floats. Floats will be judged and awarded in one of the following categories, Mayor’s Award: Best of Parade, Most Festive and City Manager’s Community Organization Award. This year’s theme is “The Brighter, The Better.” “The City of Lights Parade is a great way to kick off the holiday season,” says Mayor William Martin. “We hope all New Englanders will come downtown to participate and join in the festivities.” The regions’ premier parade is presented through a collaboration of the Chamber of Commerce, City of Lowell, The Greater Merrimack Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau, COOL, Downtown Lowell Business Association, Lowell Five, and National Park Service.
